Student-Athletes Honored On National Signing Day 2/6/2009
 

The Barstow School recognized six student athletes in a special ceremony on National Signing Day. On Wednesday, February 4, 2009, six Barstow students who embody this mission were recognized for their outstanding athletic accomplishments. These six students will be playing collegiate level sports next year.

Emily McMeekin, daughter of Dr. Sheila McMeekin of Overland Park, Kansas, will be playing soccer at Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri.

Russell to play for the Warriors - Date: 4/21/2008

Beth Russell, a senior goalkeeper from Northwest High School &KC Strikers, Kansas, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer for Midland Lutheran College beginning in the fall.

The varsity starter and co-captain of her high school team is a National Honor Society nominee.  MLC head coach Harold Munoz said, "Beth's presence and determination in goal will give us added security to our backline."

    Graceland Women's Soccer Inks Top Recruit

Kia Condit comes to Graceland from Kansas City, Missouri, where she has been a varsity goalkeeper on the highly competitive Park Hill High School team since her freshman year. During her time there Park Hill has won conference, once district championship, and has twice been runner-up for conference and district titles, and has been ranked in the Missouri Coaches State Top 15 poll. Condit played for the Kansas City Strikers "Wolves" . She has also traveled to Scotland and Wales to compete in two international tournaments. She is very active in her church youth group and has served as Counselor in Training for two years at Junior High camp. She has also provided teaching ministry at her home congregation, the Highlands. Kia has helped coach 2 youth soccer teams and 2 volleyball teams, which she hopes will help her future ambition to be a teacher and/or coach. "I am really excited about attending Graceland," said Condit. "After considering other universities, Graceland is the place I want to be. I am thrilled to move forward in a place I can best grow as a soccer player and as a person". Coach Wagenaar said of Kia, "Kia brings a very exuberant personality to the field. It is a pleasure to coach players such as Kia who so evidently just loves playing the game of soccer. Kia is a fierce competitor and a fearless ‘keeper."

      BENEDICTINE WOMEN’S SOCCER SIGN 5 NEWCOMERS FOR 2008 

February 7, 2008 – Benedictine Women’s Soccer coach Lincoln Roblee is proud to announce the signing of five student athletes for 2008.  “We have five more excellent student-athletes joining us” said Roblee. “A majority of our successful 2007 squad returns, and these newcomers should give us additional talent and depth.”

Defender Katie Gorman helped lead Notre Dame deSion coached by Matt Darby to the Missouri State Championship game in 2007. District and Sectional Champions in 2007. Led KC Strikers –Wolves club team coached by Richard Thompson to several successes throughout the Midwest. Received Top Scholar Award at Notre Dame deSion. Has been member of SADD, Spanish Club, and Sion Debate Team. Notre Dame deSion school representative for the Junior Statesmen of America Winter Congress and headed the fundraising for Little Sisters of the Poor Game Drive.  National Honor Society and is ranked No. 1 in her class.  Plans to Double major in History and Spanish. Katie Gorman will wear number 27.
